Building History

This beautiful historic building was exquisitly revovated in 1997 with no expense spared.
The building originally built in 1914 housed one of the first motion picture theaters in the state, the Gem Theater, ushering into Peterborough a new dimension in entertainment that continues to today. The 100 seat Peterborough Community Theatre operates in a rear portion of the building while the restaurant now occupies the original entrance and lobby of theater. Located in Peterborough’s historic Depot Square this beautiful building as been at the heart of the community for almost a century.
